Barcelona's commanding lead in the Copa del Rey semi-finals will give Lionel Messi the chance to correct a kidney problem. The Argentine superstar will miss the second leg of the Spanish Cup semis against Valencia, after the team's medical staff recommended a minor surgery to eliminate stons in one of his kidneys.
Los Blaugranas issued a press release via their website to give word to their fans.
"FC Barcelona striker Lionel Messi will undergo several tests on Monday and Tuesday to assess the evolution of the kidney problems he suffered last December. Messi will return to his normal duties with the first team on Wednesday," can be read in the short statement.

Messi has been dealing with this situation since the end of 2015, when he was forced to watch the Club World Cup semi-finals from the sidelines, as his kidney problems did not allow him to train with the club.
Messi should have no problem to play against Celta Vigo, according to club officers.
