The Real Madrid superstar could be in danger of missing El Clasico should he face punishment for his action.

Sunday’s trip to Sevilla proved a frustrating game for Real Madrid.

The weekend clash saw them lose their unbeaten run this season, the last remaining in Europe, as they surrendered the lead in La Liga to Barcelona after being defeated 3-2.

It was also a very frustrating night for Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo as well, who found it difficult breaking through Unai Emery’s side’s defense, as he failed to make the score sheet, falling further behind Neymar in the goalscorer charts.

However, did this disappointment boil over into a lash out at a Sevilla player? Video footage appears to show so.

A video has surfaced showing what appears to be the three-time Ballon d’Or winner throwing a punch at Los Hispalenses’ Grzegorz Krychowiak, an incident which went unnoticed by the referee.

Of course, match official José González’s failure to pick up on the incident paves way for the LFP to step in and punish the 30-year-old Portuguese ace, should his actions merit punishment.

It is important to note that Los Blancos’ next game upon returning from the latest international break is a home clash with Barcelona in El Clasico, a crucial fixture which could go a long way in deciding who lifts the Spanish Primera Division crown.

Cristiano has previously found himself embroiled in controversy for punching a player, landing a blow on Atletico Madrid’s Diego Godin in the Spanish Super Cup.

The former Manchester United winger was also found guilty of slapping and punching Cordoba’s Jose Angel Crespo last season, a move which resulted in a red card and a two-match ban.

Could a similar punishment be awaiting the Real Madrid attacker?
