ESPN goes to Barcelona for Opening Weekend of the 2021-22 La Liga season

Coverage of the Spanish top-flight will feature over 380 games of the competition on various platforms, including American channel ABC.

An unprecedented football coverage will take place on ESPN+, ESPN networks and ABC, as all media outlets will combine to cover the opening weekend in La Liga from August 13 to 15. The content aired in English and Spanish will include live match commentary, interviews, studio segments, and other content that will originate from Barcelona's Camp Nou.

The season will kick off on Friday with the game between Valencia and Getafe, but the real treat will come on Sunday, when Barcelona and Real Sociedad lock horns at 2:00 p.m. (ET). This will be the first LaLiga match to be aired on broadcast television in the United States. Coverage will begin with a 30-minute preview which will be recorded at Camp Nou, and if that was not enough, Spanish-language coverage will be available on ESPN Deportes. For fans that want to follow the game on-the-go, ESPN+ will stream the match in English and Spanish language.

ESPN's coverage of the opening weekend in the Spanish top-flight will include Ian Darke, Steve McManaman, and reporter Alexis Nunes for English-speaking audiences, while coverage in Spanish will be in charge of Fernando Palomo, , Mario Kempes, and reporter Moisés Llorens. Both teams of analysts will be present at Camp Nou for Sunday's kick-off.
