Both Germany and Denmark will hope to head into the upcoming EURO 2020 tournament in a positive vein of form as they prepare to square off in a pre-competition friendly on Wednesday, June 2nd.

Preview: Germany vs Denmark

An interesting battle awaits as Germany take on Denmark for the first of two pre-EURO 2020 warm-up matches. Arguably, this will be the toughest of their friendlies, as they will next take on Eastern European minnows Latvia, and this game will be even trickier as Joachim Low will have a much weakened squad with several players missing following their involvement in last weekend's Champions League final in Porto.

Die Mannschaft will be looking to make amends following their embarrassing 2-1 loss to lowly North Macedonia back in March and so playing an opponent like Denmark, who themselves have been in excellent form, will be the perfect way to regain some of their lost confidence ahead of the upcoming tournament in less than two weeks' time.

This game will give Low the perfect chance to try to get some of his tactics right, with the next match against Latvia the final opportunity before it's showtime against France on June 15th. The experienced tactician has opted to go with a mix of youth and veterans, with players like teenager Jamal Musiala expected to be on the pitch alongside faces like Thomas Muller, Toni Kroose, Manuel Neuer, and Mats Hummels.

Denmark, meanwhile, will be full of confidence of causing their opponents some major problems. Kasper Hjulmand's men come into this match having won all three of their World Cup 2022 qualifying matches by an aggregate score of 14-0, beating Israel, Moldova, and notably, Austria, along the way.

With players like Scudetto winner Christian Eriksen, Leicester's Kasper Schmeichel, Milan's Simon Kjær, Leipzig's Youssuf Poulsen, and Chelsea's Andreas Christensen, some have even wondered if Denmark could be a dark horse contender at this summer's competition - à la Croatia at the 2018 World Cup.

Team news: Germany vs Denmark

Germany: Kai Havertz, the man who scored the game-winning goal for Chelsea, won't be involved here, as he'll be given a bit more time to rest following his participation in Saturday's final. Others who won't feature for die Mannschaft include his Blues colleagues Timo Werner and Antonio Rudiger, as well as Manchester City's İlkay Gündoğan.

Denmark: Meanwhile, Denmark will have to make do without defender Andreas Christensen, who was part of Thomas Tuchel's Champions League winning side over the weekend, but he looks likely to be the only major absentee for the Scandinavian side.
