Unai Emery may be set to go with war with Pep Guardiola once more, but the Spaniard held nothing but praise for his countryman ahead of their upcoming encounter.
Arsenal is gearing up for a tricky test on Sunday where they will travel to Man City. The Gunners will visit the Etihad, a ground where they have not fared well in recent seasons, with the hope of earning a positive result on Sunday.
However, they will face a Citizens side led by the best manager in the world, as stated by Emery. The former PSG tactician opened up about his rival, claiming that no other tactician is outperforming the Barcelona icon.
One of the biggest criticism that Pep has faced is that he profits from managing world-class players, such as the crop of talent during his Camp Nou days, and benefits from huge spending as is seen at Man City. Emery, though, disagreed with this claim in a press conference for their upcoming showdown.
"I have analyzed a lot of teams and coaches and it is difficult to find one coach who is better than Guardiola," Unai said, as per the Daily Mail.
"His career is a very big career. He started with the Barcelona second team. I learned a lot looking at his team It is good to look at each other when we are coaches to learn different things. I think in his career, he is doing the best of all the coaches in the world."
Emery added: He has had the possibility to take the best players, he is improving those great players and also paying a lot for some players. But he led them one step more in every place. This, for me, is the quality that makes me say he is the best."
The Emirates Stadium gaffer has crossed paths with Pep on several occasions during their time in Spain. However, the Arsenal boss is yet to record a single victory against his counterpart, the 2-0 Emirates Stadium loss to the Citizens in his debut game being his most recent defeat to Guardiola.
The reigning Premier League champion lost to Newcastle in their most recent game and will be eager to bounce back in order to avoid losing further ground on league leader Liverpool. The Gunners boss is wary of this but is fully aware that his men also need to deliver a victory to aid their pursuit of a top-four finish.
Aubameyang and Co. currently occupy the fourth spot but they are level on points with Chelsea and could drop to sixth should they lose at the Etihad and Man United win at Leicester. Defeat on Sunday could be costly for Arsenal; victory will be crucial.
