Referee Mateu Lahoz was slammed by fans and experts during the game between Italy and Sweden due to his controversial calls.

The game between Italy and Sweden could have been decided earlier...if it wasn't for referee Mateu Lahoz.

The Spanish referee had at least three controversial calls during the second leg of the UEFA World Cup Qualifier between the Azzurri and the Blågult, which saw the Swedish side eliminate the 4-time World Cup winners from next year's tournament.

First off, this tackle against Marco Parolo was ignored by the Spaniard after just eight minutes.

Next, this handball by Matteo Darmian wasn't enough to give the Swedish side a penalty kick.

Then, another handball inside Italy's box, was ignored by Lahoz. Andrea Barzagli got away with it.

With these decisions, added to the controversial penalty kick that saw Switzerland beat Northern Ireland, it seems pretty clear that refs need technology to help them make crucial decisions for the better good of the game.
