These figures mean that Telemundo’s coverage outclassed Fox Sports networks’ at a rate of +335%, last weekend. It also outperformed Univision’s viewing numbers for the opening weekend of the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup. Here are key facts and figures from Telemundo’s record-setting viewership:
1) Up to 4 million Americans watched Mexico hold Portugal to a draw.
2) Portugal 2-2 Mexico became the most streamed match ever on Telemundo with 2.3 million minutes streamed.
3) Portugal 2-2 Mexico was the most watched broadcast among viewers aged 18-49 in 11 major cities in the United States during the hours of 11 AM ET and 1 PM ET.
4) Almost 500,000 interactions took place on social media as Chicharito’s side denied Cristiano Ronaldo and co. from grabbing maximum points.
5) 4.6 million minutes were streamed in total over the weekend across Telemundo Deportes’ digital platforms.
6) A total of 5.3 million viewers tuned into Telemundo’s world-class coverage of Russia, Portugal and Chile’s opening Confederations Cup 2017 fixtures.
