On Friday, Chelsea travel to West Brom in round 37 of the Premier League. The Blues can officially be crowned as England’s champions with a win with two games to spare.
With Tottenham losing 1-0 in the previous round, victory would be enough to mathematically put Conte’s side out of reach. A lot backs the London giants to win – their deadly attack, their skillful midfield, and their rock-solid defense.
However, a win is not guaranteed at the Hawthorns. Here are three reasons why the Baggies might put Chelsea’s title celebrations on hold.
1. West Brom have a good recent home record vs. Chelsea
Chelsea, despite this being a possible second Premier League title in three seasons, have struggled at the Hawthorns in recent years. In their last five trips there, the Blues have only won once (L3, D1).
2. The league double continues to evade the Blues
The London giants have not won back-to-back games against West Brom in their last 10 meetings. Since Conte’s side won their first clash this season 1-0, they might struggle to win at the Hawthorns.
3. Chelsea’s struggles vs. West Brom’s defense
When these two sides last met, Chelsea won 1-0. However, the Blues attack struggled that day so much, they only had one other shot on target aside from Diego Costa’s winner.
