Things are turning for the better at Arsenal after one of the darkest spells in Wenger’s reign. However, the doubt surrounding Alexis Sanchez’s future hasn’t let up.
The Chilean ace is entering the final year of his contract with the Gunners and has given little hope as to whether he will stay. Meanwhile, his performance has fans mesmerized, scoring the winning goal in extra-time in the FA Cup semi-final, booking their spot in the final against Chelsea.
Wenger, whose future at the Emirates is also under question, offered a reassuring update on the Chilean ace. According to Le Prof, the two-time Copa America winner will remain in north London.
"Alexis Sanchez was like the team," Wenger said (as per Sky Sports) after Arsenal beat Man City to make the FA Cup final.
"He had problems to start and became stronger and stronger.
"He is an animal, always ready to kill the opponent. He will never give up. He will be here next year because he has a contract and hopefully we will manage to extend."
Wenger knows convincing Alexis to stay won’t be easy. The former Barca attacker has interest from Chelsea, Man City, Man United, and PSG – clubs were he could earn and win move silverware.
To make things worse for Arsenal, Bayern Munich are now reportedly interested in Sanchez. This is according to Bild, with the German tabloid claiming that the Bundesliga giants are aware that they won’t have to pay the player’s value due to his contract situation, and thus could team him up with countryman Vidal for significantly less.
