European giants Real Madrid have been linked with a move for Chelsea’s star goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois. According to Madrid-based radio station Radio Onda Cero, the Champions League defending champions will make a huge bid for the Belgium goalkeeper next summer.
Los Blancos have been hunting for a goalkeeper in the recent past, with Man Utd’s David De Gea being their top target. However, it is very unlikely that the Spaniard would consider moving out of Old Trafford in the summer, hence the club’s interest in Courtois.
The 24-year-old has been in fine form for Chelsea this season and is one of the reasons the Blues are leading the Premier League table after a disappointing display in 2015/16. According to Squawka Football, the Blues’ shot stopper has made 17 appearances this season, kept 10 clean sheets and has an average of 2.9 saves per goal.
Coach Zinedine Zidane is said to be looking for a long-term replacement for Keylor Navas, who turned 30 last week. The Costa Rican has been solid between the sticks in the recent past for Los Blancos but thanks to the recent reduction of the club’s transfer ban, new reinforcements are bound to be considered next summer.
