Man Utd manager Jose Mourinho has fired a warning shot at star midfielder Paul Pogba despite the huge win over defending champions Leicester City. The outspoken Portuguese tactician was speaking to journalists after the morale-boosting win over the Foxes after a terrible week that saw them lose three games in a row.
When asked about Pogba’s brilliant performance that saw him score his first goal for the Red Devils since his much-publicized return from Juventus, the ex-Chelsea boss revealed that the 23-year-old has to be consistent in the upcoming matches. Pogba had an impressive debut for the 20-time Premier League champions against Southampton but he seemed to have put his feet off the pedal. But his promising performance against Claudio Ranieri’s men could be a sign of brighter days to come. Watch Mourinho’s verdict on Pogba’s performance below.
Earlier today, Mourinho surprised fans by benching captain Wayne Rooney and Marouane Fellaini against the King Power outfit. This move was widely seen as a warning shot to the club’s players as far as their individual performances are concerned. Although he admitted that the decision to bench Rooney was not the reason why they won the match by a huge margin, many fans believed that the England captain and his Belgian counterpart were better off starting from the bench. Check out some of the reactions below:
Today was the biggest contribution Rooney & Fellaini have made to a United game in 3 years. Keep it up lads!#MUFC

We are only going to get better if Rooney is consistently benched, once Mkhitaryan and Martial are back we will be at our best.

Rooney + Bench = 4-0 against Champions in first half.

So glad Mourinho listened to the fans and has dropped Fellaini and Rooney to prove how much better we could be.

This isn't all on Rooney.

No Fellaini makes a difference as well.
There's finally mobility & tempo in the side.
Who would have thought a team without Rooney and Fellaini could be so vibrant, energetic and great to watch

Rooney and Fellaini dropped. Come on!!!
