The manager who won over the fans and the players could one day be back at the Bernabeu.

Despite being harshly cast out by the Real Madrid hierarchy last summer, Carlo Ancelotti refused to rule out one day returning to coach the Spanish giants.

The Italian boss, currently in charge of Bayern Munich, was manager at Los Blancos, winning the club the Copa del Rey and La Decima – their 10th Champions League title.

The following campaign, unfortunately, saw Carletto fail to deliver silverware, which led to Florentino Perez replacing the 57-year-old with Rafael Benitez. This decision did not sit well with several key players – namely Cristiano Ronaldo and Sergio Ramos – and the fans.

Regardless, the Italian admitted to Marca that he wouldn’t be able to refuse a second spell with Real Madrid. When asked if he would ever return, Ancelotti said:

“Of course. There is no reason why not. It was a nice experience.

“I have to thank the club for signing me and giving me the chance to manage Madrid.

“I coached the club thanks to the President who wanted me for that period of time.”

The players who worked under the Italian held the former AC Milan boss in high regards. Carlo himself admits to holding tons of respect for the squad he led for two seasons.

“I have a lot of affection for the group that I trained. In the second season we lost one very important player in Angel Di Maria.

“Then we lost key players to injury in the second half of the season and we ended up paying for it.”

The Italian has enjoyed a perfect start to life in the Bundesliga. Carletto hasn’t tasted defeat since taking over the helm at the Allianz Arena from Pep Guardiola. Despite his predecessor’s success in Germany, Ancelotti looks to win the Bavarians one trophy Pep could never provide: the Champions League.

Ancelotti, though, feels that there are six other clubs that could threaten die’ Roten’s chance of European success, only one being from England.

“There are seven teams that can win it. The big three Spanish sides; Juventus, Manchester City, PSG and Bayern.”
