Manchester United appeared to be clear winners in the race to land French superstar Paul Pogba, with Jose Mourinho reportedly willing to spend big in order to bring back the 23-year-old to Old Trafford.
With Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan having already joined the Special One at the Red Devils, the Juve ace will only make the 20-time English Premier League champions stronger.
However, Spanish tabloid AS look to burst Man United’s bubble by reporting that Real Madrid have re-entered the race for Pogba and are plotting to pip the English giants to his signature.
Los Blancos initially backed off from pursuing the Frenchman due to his massive asking price, estimated to be worth €120m. The 11-time Champions League winner appeared to have officially pulled out when they decided not to sell Alvaro Morata, a player believed to have been brought back in order to raise funds for the Pogba move.
AS now claim that Real Madrid are in talks with Mino Raiola – the player’s agent – over other means of financing the move. Regardless, landing Pogba will still cost and arm and a leg.
The Bleus ace’s future remains up in the air, as he has not yet committed to another club nor has he promised to stay on with his Serie A employers.
However, his agent recently revealed that the player was offered a new lucrative deal by the Scudetto holders to keep him in Turin.
