Portugal's journey in France is one for the books. Fernando Santos' side endured a frustrating start to their UEFA Euro 2016 campaign. They barely managed to survive the group stage, as they finished as one of the four third best teams. The Portuguese lads then met up with Croatia in the round of 16 and edged a win with a very late goal in extra-time. Then, Poland and Portugal went head-to-head in the quarter-final. The match ended in a 1-1 draw, which led to a nail-biting penalty shoot-out. Portugal came out victorious and Santos' men booked their ticket to the semi-final to face Wales. Against Chris Coleman's team, Portugal displayed the performance supporters were looking for throughout this entire competition with a convincing 2-0 win to knock out Bale and Co. from Euro 2016.
Finally, the anticipated final came around, as France and Portugal fought until their very last breath to bring home the glory. Although the night didn't start out well for the Portuguese side with their star man Cristiano Ronaldo being forced off the pitch due to a knee injury, Portugal overcame Les Bleus at the Stade de France. 
After Portugal was named winner of this top-flight tournament, fans, and journalists took to Twitter to express their feelings toward the new victors of the European Championship. Some claimed Ronaldo and Co. did not deserve the glory. Take a look at the tweets:
