Newcastle United boss Rafa Benitez has made his fourth signing ahead of the new season. The Spanish tactician has signed Jesus Gamez on a two-year deal.
The 31-year-old Spaniard plays as a right-back but can also play on the left side of the pitch. He was instrumental in Atletico Madrid’s good form last season, having made 12 league appearances for the La Liga outfit.

Gamez started his senior club career with Malaga B in 2004, and then joined the senior team a year later. He made a total of 266 league appearances for the Spanish side between 2005 and 2014, before switching to Atletico Madrid in 2014 where he played 24 league games for Los Colchoneros from 2014 to 2016. He has also played for the Spanish U23 team four times since 2005 and scored two goals.
Newcastle have already signed Matt Ritchie, Dwight Gayle and Matz Sels. They will be hoping to put up a strong performance under the former Liverpool and Real Madrid boss and find their way back into the Premier League after a disappointing 2015/16 season.
