Portuguese striker Cristiano Ronaldo scored his fifth goal in just four days as Real Madrid made their way into the UEFA Champions League Quarter-finals. During a game that had some spells in which Roma seemed to be getting closer to score than their hosts, Cristiano Ronaldo made his presence felt when his team-mates needed him the most by scoring the game's go ahead goal and dishing out an assist to seal the deal for Los Blancos.
CR7 extended his lead as the tournament's all-time top striker, scoring his 90th goal in the competition. Tonight's goal gets him closer to establish a new record in a single season, as the Portuguese ace sent the ball into the back of the net for the 13th time this year.
Four minutes after scoring his goal, CR7 helped James Rodriguez score his first Champions League goal this season by setting him up with a fine through ball. The Colombian ace had struggled with fitness issues which saw him fall down the pecking order with Los Blancos, but he managed to end his goal scoring drought in the tournament with his well placed strike.
