Portugal will take on Luxembourg without their captain and talismanic forward Cristiano Ronaldo. The Real Madrid forward has not been included in the 23 man squad which is to play friendlies against Russia and Luxembourg.
The former Man United man was also rested for Portugal's last qualifier against Serbia with qualification to Euro 2016 already confirmed. Other notable absentees include the likes of Ricardo Quaresma, Ricardo Carvalho and Tiago. Whereas Adrien Silva, Danny, Eder and Fabio Coentrao are expected to miss through injury.
Despite a lot of absentees, Crisitano Ronaldo has remained in the limelight something which has not been well received by manager Fernando Santos.
"Why only talk about Cristiano Ronaldo when there are five or six absences?" the coach said.
"Cristiano is indisputable, but this is my decision."
"For a long time it's been said we don't have players and, when I select others, I am criticised.
"In fact, Portugal has a new generation of players emerging. We have a lot of players that enable us to make this choice.
"These games are not for experimenting, all players form part of the group."
Portugal suffered a defeat at the hands of Russia during the game played on Saturday through a solitary goal from captain Roman Shirokov. Russia had been the better side throughout the course of the match and a victory was no less than what they deserved.
Luxembourg on the other hand have been in abysmal form as of late having suffered defeat in three of their last five games. They however recorded a narrow 1-0 win over Greece in their last outing and will be hoping to build upon it.
