Liga MX enters its second half of the season with some interesting matches this weekend. All eyes will be set on Tijuana and Veracruz, which will determine who ends up as the tournament leader. Meanwhile, Puebla will try to reach Chivas in the relegation standings when they face each other, while Leones Negros will try to add more pressure to the previously referred teams by winning their game against Morelia, the worst team this semester. These are the games that stand out for this weekend in the Mexican top flight.
Tijuana vs Veracruz: Battle for the first place
Perhaps the most exciting teams this semester, Los Xolos and Los Tiburones will face each other, holding the Number 1 and Number 2 spots in the Mexican league standings. Daniel Guzman's men will hope Gabriel Hauche and Dayro Moreno keep them as the league leaders, while the Red Sharks set their hopes on what Julio Furch and Daniel Villalva can do for them. If the visitors win, they will snatch the first place off Tijuana's hands, but a win by Los Xolos will make them very hard to catch for the remaining teams.
Dayro Moreno came back for a second stint with The Dogs and is not disappointing anyone.
Puebla vs Chivas: Two historic sides facing relegation problems
La Franja and Guadalajara will stage one of the most controversial matches this week, since both teams are currently fighting to maintain their spot in the Mexican top flight. Chivas lost their most recent game against Queretaro, and another loss could make the ground beneath their feet shake. On the other hand, Puebla will try to redeem themselves after having their 2-1 lead cancelled by Chiapas in the dying seconds of last week's match. If Puebla wins, Chivas will need a miracle to avoid the last place of the relegation standings with just seven games to go.
Puebla will try to defeat Chivas and Omar Bravo (right) when they face each other this Saturday.
America vs Santos: Peralta and Quintero face their former side
Las Aguilas will host Los Guerreros one more time at Estadio Azteca. These two sides always provide a good show for football fans, since these games usually end up with a high quantity of goals. The added ingredient for this match will be the comeback of Luis Mendoza and Jesus Molina to play against their former team, while Darwin Quintero and Oribe Peralta take on the club that gave them the chance to shine. Las Aguilas could climb to the second place of the board if Veracruz loses on Friday, but Pedro Caixinha's crew will not be an easy task for them.
