Ahead of what seems like a crucial Madrid derby after Barcelona dropped points last week, Real Madrid playmaker Mesut Ozil believes that Real have what it takes to win the league this season.
As Atletico Madrid get ready to host Real Madrid tonight, Mesut Ozil has spoken about Real Madrid's title chances by insisting that they have the ability to beat Barcelona and wrestle the title away from the Catalans. While he was quick enough to admit that Barcelona are a class above the rest, Ozil believes that Madrid are a young team that will continue to evolve.

"You can tell they [Barcelona] have been playing together for several years,'' the youngster told Spanish publication, Marca.

''We have a young team with great potential. We are on track to continue to evolve, that's what we're doing. With every game we get better and stronger. I am convinced that we can put on a great performance and win against Barcelona.

''Winning games here is not just for three points but for further development also. I'm fully aware we must continue to evolve. Of course in May, all we want is titles but over the next few years, we will be building towards trophies,'' added the 22-year-old.

Ozil has already cemented himself within the Los Blancos set-up although he still thinks that nothing will matter until he reaches his target of winning trophies.

"At the moment, I am very happy in Madrid and the club. I have not managed to reach my final goals yet. I have goals with the team and I will give everything to achieve these goals," he declared.

As Real Madrid take on Atletico Madrid, Barcelona will be up against Getafe and both teams will be aiming to not drop any points with another El Classico set to be played next month.
