The Red Devils are looking to bolster their ranks by signing another star from Sporting CP.

Manchester United are exploring the possibility of signing Sporting CP's Pedro Goncalves ahead of this summer's transfer window, reports from England have revealed. The Red Devils are said to have identified the 22-year-old as a potential acquisition to feature on the right flank.

After seeing Bruno Fernandes depart from the Lions to join the Red Devils in the winter transfer window last season, the young Portuguese attacker stepped up as the natural replacement for his former skipper. Since then, he has somewhat become the poster-boy of the side in his maiden season, leading their charge in the league title race by scoring 15 goals and assisting four in 21 appearances.

On the contrary, his predecessor has also been impactful since moving to Old Trafford, having scored 16 goals and assisted 10 in 29 league appearances this season. With Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side in the transfer market for a right winger, reports suggest that they are keen on the signing of the Sporting CP starlet as they believe he has the potential to rise to the level of his compatriot.

While Manchester United are expected to rekindle their interest in Borussia Dortmund's Jadon Sancho who's value is expected to drop this summer, the Telegraph claims that a swoop for Pedro Goncalves could be on the cards as he is seen as a cheaper alternative. Irregardless of the Red Devils' interest, the attacker is expected to attract bids from top European clubs this summer and could depart should his $71.8 million (51.7 million pounds) release clause be triggered.
