As things stand, Scotland are outside the top two, but definitely not out of the running to secure a spot at their first World Cup in 30 years. Gordon Strachan's side are in fourth, with seven points, and ended up losing 3-0 to England in the reverse fixture last November. They obviously will be keen on revenge, albeit they have not beaten their bitter rivals in nearly 18 years.
Scotland have already beaten minnows Malta and will be expected to pick up another three points against them. However, they dropped valuable points against Lithuania and will be looking to try to grab at least a point here - especially as Eastern European duo Slovakia and Slovenia are very much within catching-up distance.
England
A close look at the Three Lions' squad will reveal some interesting aspects. For starters, despite being his nation's all-time top goalscorer with 53 goals, Wayne Rooney has been left out in the cold. Many reports have effectively claimed that the 31-year-old, who struggled for game-time at Manchester United, may not even be a part of the England squad heading to the 2018 World Cup. In his absence, Tottenham ace Harry Kane, who recently clinched yet another Golden Boot, will be the one expected to skipper the squad.
Another absentee for this game is Leicester City's Jamie Vardy, albeit due to injury. For the Three Lions, not only will be they aiming to further extend an already strong lead over the Slovaks but also to perhaps record another shutout. They may not have the highest scoring attack in this group, but they can still boast of a perfect clean sheet record so far in qualifying.
