It took England 73 minutes to find the back of the net against a stubborn Russian side in their Euro 2016 Group B match at Stade Velodrome.
Eric Dier's superb free-kick from 20 yards was all England needed to calm their nerves against their bitter rivals, albeit temporarily. It should be remembered that a section of fans from the two sides had been clashing against each other in the streets of Marseille for three consecutive days, and this match provided a perfect platform to extend their rivalry peacefully.
22-year-old Dier sent the Three Lions’ fans into a frenzy on Twitter but the excitement lasted for less than 15 minutes as Leonid Slutsky's men found a late equalizer through Denis Glushakov's header.
