Barcelona center-back Gerard Pique and Real Madrid defender Alvaro Arbeloa have quarreled numerous of times, even being involved in an embarrassing war-of-words on Twitter, with the Blaugrana ace trolling his compatriot in the wake of the Catalan giants’ recent FIFA Club World Cup triumph.
Pique has infamously trolled Los Blancos and its players several times on social media, with the World Cup winner taking a jibe at the Madrid giants’ anthem prior to their meeting in El Clasico.
However, he has now come under heavy criticism from an influential figure in the Spanish national side and the 10-time Champions League winners: Sergio Ramos.
The Real Madrid captain weighed in with his thoughts on the Pique-Arbeloa feud in an interview with Spanish radio station CADENA Cope, calling for the Roja defender to show more maturity.
"There is no getting around that kind of discussion, these are childish things that veterans like Pique should avoid,” Ramos told Cope, as per Marca.
"Anyway, I think a little humour never hurts but there is a time and place for such actions and always, of course, without disrespecting either party.”
Asked about Pique’s active life on Periscope, the Real Madrid skipper said: "I've always tried to take good care of my privacy. I'm not in favour of showing everything, nor do I wish to show nothing of myself.
"There needs to be a middle ground."
This season’s race for the Spanish Primera Division is headed for a very exciting curtain closer, as Real Madrid and neighbors Atletico find themselves back in the mix for the league crown after a recent slip up by Luis Enrique’s crew.
Los Rojiblancos have the upper hand over Zidane’s boys, with Diego Simeone’s side – level with leaders Barca on points – sitting ahead of Real Madrid in the standings by a single point.
Speaking about Atletico’s manager, Ramos held high praise for the Argentine tactician, but had one issue with Cholo.
"I admire Cholo, I like his philosophy and the performances of his teams, but I don't like people playing the victim."
