Joseph Blatter's intentions of making football available for everyone in the World may not turn out as he planned. Today, Theo Zwanziger, a memeber of FIFA's Executive Committee, shared with disbelief his thoughts on World Cup 2022 being played in Qatar:
"Personally, I don't think the 2022 World Cup will be held in Qatar. Our medical staff has told us they can't make themselves responsible for any consequence there is after playing the tournament in such weather conditions. I want the Executive Committee to be very aware of this situation," the FIFA exec commented.
Corruption allegations have surrounded the tournament's organization ever since they were announced as host nation. Perhaps the most troublesome moment for the Asian country came this summer, when several publications showed proof of corruption in the form of emails, memos and receipts.
Furthermore, Zwanziger revealed FIFA could face legal action if they keep their intentions of hosting the World Cup in the Asian country:
"If there was a case in which a human life could be in peril, Executive members could be subject to a legal investigation, and I'm pretty sure no member will want such a thing to happen," Zwanziger stated.
Rumors indicate that, if Qatar is not allowed to host the World Cup, the United States would take the option along with Canada, given the substancial growth of the MLS.
