Barcelona will welcome Athletic Bilbao to the Camp Nou in a La Liga encounter on Saturday, the 13th of September.

The Blaugrana have two wins out of two so far and they will be looking for a third consecutive win when they face Ernesto Valverde’s Athletic Bilbao. The hosts were against Villarreal in their last match a fixture they won through a solitary goal from La Liga debutant Sandro  Ramirez. The 19 year old scored a scrappy winner in the 82nd minute after good work from Lionel Messi to give Barcelona all three points.

Barcelona’s Argentinean forward Leo Messi has started the season brightly and scored twice when Luis Enrique made his managerial debut for Barcelona against Elche in the league opener. The 27 year old is now just two goals short to reach a new landmark of 400 goals for club and country.

Barcelona look to redeem themselves after a disappointing campaign last time out which saw them finishing the season trophy less. Among the changes made in the squad, former Barcelona midfielder Luis Enrique was appointed head coach of the club and many of the players have spoken of the positive impact he has had since his arrival. Jordi Alba in particular has claimed that Enrique has introduced a much needed change in the Barcelona squad.

"I am having one of my best times at the club. The arrival of Luis Enrique has been a very good change. The team needed that change," Alba told reporters.

"He has a lot of character, which he showed as a player, and now it is instilled in him as a coach."

"Since he joined I looked forward to training with him because he is a person whose work as a coach I can identify with. It shows because we are more tuned in than in other years."

Bilbao on the other hand have not won at the Camp Nou in almost 13 years and will have a herculean of a task at hand against a Barcelona side which is known to overpower opponents at home. Ernesto Valverde’s men will however be in a buoyant mood following their qualification to the Champions League after defeating Napoli in the play-off.

Los Leones also scored a comfortable 3-0 victory over Levante in their last outing as Aduriz, Iturraspe and Muniain got on the scoresheet.
