About
TUDN history, coverage, features
TUDN México is a pay-tv sports channel owned by Grupo Televisa Univisión and operated by Televisa Networks. The channel became the first television network to air content for both Mexico and the United States under the same name and with mostly the same on-screen talent when it launched on July 20, 2019. The channel replaced the brands TDN and Televisa Deportes in Mexico, while it did the same in the United States with Univisión Deportes Network, Univisión TDN, and the sports division known as Univisión Deportes. The channel’s initials stand for Televisa Univisión Deportes Network.
TUDN México picked up most of the content aired by TDN in the past, with the channel’s focus being football. Other sports covered by the channel over the years have included baseball, basketball, rugby, handball, and multi-sports events such as the Pan American Games. Given that each country had negotiated broadcasting rights before the merger, not all sports events are available on TUDN México and TUDN USA.
Speaking about football, TUDN México has aired Liga MX games, Copa MX matches, Liga de Expansión games, and Liga MX Femenil games. International club competitions such as the Leagues Cup and the Campeones Cup have also been aired by this channel. International football events have also had screen time on this channel, with Copa América Games, CONCACAF Gold Cup matches, and FIFA Women’s World Cup games being aired on this network. TUDN has also been the home for the Mexican National Football Team, with competitive and friendly games for both the male and female teams being aired on this channel.
TUDN’s content has always been aired in High Definition, although a downscaled version is available for those users who have not switched to HD technology.
