Cristiano Ronaldo – Back on track for Portugal
After losing a part of his value through a dreadful World Cup run and a slow start to the 2010/11 season, Ronaldo only had few options in front of him prior to his games against Denmark and Iceland in the UEFA Euro 2012 Qualification earlier this month. Back in September, Ronaldo had absented himself from his country’s 2 first matches in the European Championship owing to an injury. Yet on October 8 and 12, Portuguese fans had their eyes set on the winger, and disappointing them would have thrown CR9 into serious trouble.
Luckily for him, he got revitalized in time, and 2 goals in a space of 4 days were enough to restore his positive image among his own people. Cristiano Ronaldo scored a smart late goal against Denmark on 85 minutes, while he clinched an early opener on 3 minutes against Iceland through a free-kick.
Cristiano Ronaldo – Invigorated for Real Madrid?
In the very early stages of the ongoing La Liga season, it appeared Cristiano Ronaldo had fell off-form, with his renowned shooting skills somehow being downgraded into doubtful capabilities. In the face of the public’s critics, Ronaldo made relentless attempts to bounce back; and he was hence motivated to make an early return from the injury he sustained in his opening league match against Mallorca.
Looking at his performance afterward, it was impossible to think that the winger had lost his touch on the field, and Ronaldo was indeed quick to brush away all kinds of negative analysis against his weakened display. The goals began to flow, and at this instant - partly thanks to a recent brace against Deportivo La Coruna - Ronaldo can boast of succeeding in his rapid comeback; through which he has earned 4 goals in 6 appearances for Los Blancos so far in La Liga.
Still, the star has much to do so as to gain back his fans completely. Perhaps, for any less-respected player, such an attainment at this stage of the season would have been truly satisfying. But for a man who bagged 33 goals last season and who has long been regarded as one of the greatest performers of all time, this record is just not enough.
It will be another challenging moment for Ronaldo later today when he faces Malaga. However in view of the confidence and the potential of Real Madrid, the forward is very much likely to emerge as the “Rocket”, and add a few more goals to his tally.
Malaga vs Real Madrid: No revenge story
Earlier this year, Ronaldo was shown his second red card under the Real Madrid jersey when he accidentally broke Malaga’s Patrick Mtiliga’s nose. The incident took place as Ronaldo was trying to escape a challenge from the left back during a match between both sides, but the victim has revealed that he is yet to face Ronaldo once again with a darkened heart.
“This is all history and part of the past, for me,” said Mtiliga. “I’m thinking about the next game now.
“Real Madrid is a good club, with good players. We also have a good team, and are playing very well… we can win.
“Real Madrid plays at a very high level, and so do we. So I’m sure there will be many chances for both sides to score.”
Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice in his match which ended sadly against Malaga, and another goal this weekend could not only help Real Madrid to stay above Barcelona in La Liga’s standings; but also could it help CR9 himself to reinsert his name in the list of award contenders. Well, Ronaldo might have low chances of being rewarded in 2010, nonetheless, he could benefit of honors at least next year.
