The Roma boss admitted that it is impossible for his side to play like the Catalan giants ahead of Sunday's Serie A clash with Novara.
Luis Enrique affirmed to the press that it is impossible to make his current side play like European champions Barcelona.
Enrique, who coached Barcelona "B" before joining Roma, insisted that he is not trying to replicate Josep Guardiola's widely acclaimed model, ahead of his side's crucial clash with lowly Novara on Sunday.
"I am not trying to play like Guardiola or Barca," declared Luis Enrique. "Repeating that model with those players, with that culture, is impossible."
The former Barcelona midfielder also took pressure off himself and off his players when asked whether Roma could finish the season in third place, despite their evident lack of goals.
"Third place? There are teams ahead of us and it is difficult to tell [if we can get there]. Our task is to win, which will not be easy. We must be prepared. What interests me is how many chances we create. A coach must be concerned when a team doesn't create opportunities," he stated.
Roma, who lie in sixth place of the Serie A, have gone eight matches without scoring more than one goal in a game, as the last time they managed to achieve this, they put four past Inter Milan.
"Of course I regret not scoring more from our chances, but when my team create opportunities I am not so worried about it," he concluded.
Roma couldn't be presented with a better opportunity to fire on all cylinders than when they welcome lowly Novara to the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday. Roma beat Novara 2-0 the last time the teams met last November.
