About
V Sport 1 history, coverage, features
V Sport 1 is a Swedish television channel owned and operated by the Nordic Entertainment Group. The channel was launched in 1999 as Viasat Sport 1. After numerous changes in the network, which saw channels emerge and fade into the night, the channel was rebranded to V Sport 1 in 2020.
Over the years, V Sport 1 has been known as one of the top sports channels in the country. Among the many disciplines it has covered, the channel has included football competitions, hockey, American football, basketball, golf, motorsports, and more. Since there are sports-specific channels in the V Sport network, V Sport 1 has focused on covering non-football disciplines. Despite that, V Sport 1 has served as an overflow channel when one or more football games are taking place at the same time.
When it comes to football, V Sport 1 has been involved in covering club competitions such as the UEFA Champions League, the Dutch Eredivisie, the French Ligue 1, the Danish First Division, the German Bundesliga, the English Premier League, and the Australian A-League.
V Sport 1 was launched as a Standard Definition channel, but a High-Definition feed that mirrors the content of the SD version was launched in 2009. Both feeds might still be available in most regions of the country.
