About
TSN3 history, coverage, features
The Sports Network is an English-language sports channel broadcast in Canada, owned by CTV Specialty Television, a joint-venture between Bell Media and ESPN. The network launched its first channel on September 1, 1984 and has established itself as one of the top options for sports fans in Canada. It is commonly referred to by its acronym, TSN.
TSN was allowed by the Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) to operate multiple feeds with a limited number of alternative shows aimed to a specific region, which led to the creation of TSN 3. The channel’s first broadcast came on August 25, 2014 and it is usually offered to those users who live in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, the Northwest Territories, Nunavut and the northwestern region of Ontario. The channel’s feed usually provides the same content as TSN 1, but with regionally tailored shows which may also include NHL games relevant to this region.
Throughout its history, TSN 3 has broadcast some live major events, such as the FIFA World Cup, MLS games, NBA matches, NFL games and Premier League matches, to name some of those. TSN 3 has also added college basketball games to boost their schedule.
Users can watch TSN 3 on both SD and HD on select pay-tv carriers.
