About

TLN history, coverage, features

TLN, or Telelatino, is a Canadian TV channel which provides multi-lingual programming aimed at foreign residents in the country. It was launched in 1984, with over ten million registered users as of today. TLN is owned by the TLN Media Group, after three investors bought 50% ownership rights from the Corus Entertainment Group in 2019. The channel used to broadcast its feed on SD from 1984 to 2012, when an HD feed was added.

This channel has two different broadcast feeds: East and West. The main difference between both is that only the Eastern feed is available in HD, while West users have to watch TLN on SD.

Telelatino is known for its wide variety of programming, which has included sitcoms, news broadcasts and general entertainment programs. Speaking about sports, TLN has mostly focused on broadcasting soccer games from around the world, although the channel has also included other sports in their schedule. Most of the shows scheduled on this channel derive from their deals with other global networks, such as Univisión, CNN en Español, Canale 5 and Sky TG24, to name a few.

Throughout its history, TLN has aired some major sporting events, such as FIFA World Cups, UEFA European tournaments, UEFA Europa League games and Qualifying games for both the 2018 FIFA World Cup and 2016 Olympic Football tournament, which featured the Canadian National Team. This channel also made history in Canada by broadcasting three Copa América editions in a row: 2015, 2016 and 2019.

In the past, TLN has also been able to broadcast games from domestic leagues, such as Italian Serie A games and Liga MX matches. These leagues were aired since the channel’s target audience comes from those countries.

This channel is available on a variety of satellite, cable and IPTV providers, which may be subject to change given the user’s region. TLN’s website features information regarding all shows and programming. No live or on-demand shows are available on their website, but distinct carriers in Canada offer TLN’s feed via their streaming platforms. Check with your local cable/satellite/IPTV provider for this service.
