Sky One History, Coverage, Features

Sky One is a pay-television network available in the UK and Ireland. Owned by British media conglomerate Sky Group Limited, the network was launched in April 1982 as Satellite Television Ltd.

Sky One broadcasts in 1080i (HD) with a 16:9 widescreen format. Over the years, it has featured many American TV series, including popular sitcoms, many of which have come from FOX Network. Nonetheless, it has also been successful in producing its own entertainment content. Though Sky One’s programming has not revolved around sports in the past, it was selected to broadcast live English Premier League matches for free during the COVID-19 pandemic in the UK, in 2020.

Sky One maintains a timeshift service known as Sky One +1, which may be available on major British satellite providers.
