AC Milan look to take advantage of playing in front of their own fans in the crucial second leg of the Champions League playoff game against PSV.

Preview: Max Allegri looking to use European night out as a refuge from domestic misery

Following a poor result in their first game of the Serie A, Milan would be looking to make amends when they face the Dutch giants.

Two goals by veteran striker Luca Toni saw newly promoted Hellas Verona beat the San Siro giants 2-1 in what can already be considered as one of the biggest upsets in the Serie A this season.Following the first leg Champions League playoff in Eindhoven, AC Milan need just a goalless draw in order to qualify for the group stages of the competition having earned an important away goal in the first leg.

In order to have any chance of qualifying for the group stages, Philip Cocu’s side have to score at least once after they were held to a 1-1 draw a week back.

However, the Italian Serie A giants’ manager, Massimiliano Allegri is not going to take any chances and has warned the visitors that they will have to face a side that will be out to win the home game.

"We must have a positive attitude,” Allegri told the official club's website.

"We played a good match in the first leg, now we have to think about winning this match and not conceding a goal.

"We know how important the game is. We are facing a team that plays good football and that made life difficult for us. They create a lot of chances and we should not think about playing a defensive game."

And Allegri is hoping that the game against Verona was just a one off and will not have a direct bearing on the outcome of the European game.

"Verona has to be just a blip. We must bounce back from that game and go back to the performance against PSV," he continued.

"For the first time in my three years in charge there was a bad approach to the game. Then there were also some mistakes in the reading of the game and those are things we can improve on.

"Errors are part of the game but what mustn't happen is the same approach as Saturday. We can do really well, we will have to suffer a bit and we must not think that we automatically deserve to win because of who we are."

After a dismal beginning in the domestic league, Milan know the importance of playing Champions League football. Moreover, the game against the Dutch giants is not going to be an easy affair after what Cocou’s men put the Italian’s through last week. In short, despite having the comfort of playing in front of their own fans, the Rossoneri are not out of the woods just yet.
