Speaking of the battle to keep playing in the Bundesliga, Darmstadt's woes continued last week with a mere draw, but that was good enough to get closer to Mainz, who are now just two points ahead of those currently in last place. Köln would be playing the promotion game as we speak, but a slip-up this week could see them drop to straight relegation zone, especially after winning one game out of their last five.

Top games to watch
Freiburg vs Bayern München - The defending champions know its an uphill battle to try and recover the top spot, but doing that will forcefully have to see them winning all their games (and hoping for Leverkusen to drop points). Their first test in that endeavor will be against Freiburg, who have lost four out of their last five and seem to be more worried about their fate in the UEFA Europa League. This tie will be held on Friday so both clubs can enjoy enough resting time ahead of their European fixtures next week.
