Mesut Ozil is the latest superstar to drastically change his look. The German superstar has just joined a trend made famous among the likes of Neymar and Lionel Messi and that is going blond.
While the 2014 World Cup winner's appearance has stayed relatively the same throughout his career except trimming his long hair, the 30-year-old changed things up while on tour in America.
This brought the playmaker tons of attention, although not all of it was good. As is the norm whenever a popular player does something eye-catching, he was not exempt from trolls.
Many took to Twitter to poke fun of the midfielder over his new look. Even team-mate Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could not help but take a jibe at his buddy, drawing a comparison between his new look and that of FIFA Women's World Cup winner Megan Rapinoe.
Aubameyang pointed out this resemblance

Ozil would later go on to explain the reasons behind his makeover. This move was not the former German international's decision, in fact. The midfielder admitted that he was forced to do so after losing a crossbar challenge bet to Alexandre Lacazette. Check out Mesut's confession in the video below.

The playmaker is currently on tour with Emery's side in the United States. Rumors stated that the Gunners are willing to sell the "Assist King" but he now appears destined to stay as there were not many suitors.
