If you thought Thibaut Courtois would catch a break during the international break, think again. The Belgian goalkeeper who has endured a rough season at Real Madrid reported for international duty with the hope of regaining his glory but things do not go according to plan, unfortunately.
The former Chelsea custodian took to the stage in his nation's opening Euro 2020 qualifier. A win was necessary for the Red Devils, as they look to get over the embarrassment that was their failure to reach the UEFA Nations League final.
Martinez's men broke the deadlock early on thanks to Tielemans' 14th-minute strike but that lead did not last long due to a horrific blunder from Courtois. The goalkeeper tripped over the ball to hand Cheryshev the equalizing goal on a silver platter.
Fortunately, Hazard scored a brace to earn Belgium all three points but that not spare the Blancos shot-stopper from ridicule. Twitter showed the 26-year-old no mercy, with Eden also jumping on the bandwagon by poking fun at his team-mate.
The Chelsea superstar joked that the former Stamford Bridge goalkeeper tried to replicate his dribbling skills in the build-up to the error. Hazard told reporters after the game: "Thibaut Courtois watches a lot of videos of my actions and then he tries to copy me. The problem is: he is much taller than me, so it isn't that easy."

Despite the horrendous error, Courtois is likely to remain a starter in between the sticks. Next up for the European giant is a trip to Cyprus in yet another Euro 2020 qualifier before the international break wraps up.
