After playing out a 0:0 draw I last week’s derby with Everton, getting the three points against the Cherries is required to maintain the soaring confidence in the Reds’ camp. Three wins will automatically put Liverpool in contention to feature in next season’s UEFA Champions League and that’s a feat worth fighting for regardless the outcome of their stint in Europe this season.
For that to materialize, Jurgen Klopp’s team will hope that their high-flying attack led by Mohamed Salah will turn up the heat once again in their own backyard. The 25-year-old Egyptian forward has scored 17 times in the EPL at Anfield this season and he’s just a goal away from becoming the eighth different player and also the first African to score at least 30 goals in the English top-flight league.
Relatively, his Liverpool side is also enjoying a purple patch of its own as they remain unbeaten at home in 18 Premier League games (W11, D7). It will undoubtedly be a tough task for Eddie Howe and his brigade to stall this streak considering Bournemouth has only won one of their 12 previous meetings with Liverpool in all competitions (D3, L8).
However, the 11th-placed team has won a league-high 18 points from losing positions in the Premier League and could be motivated to pull an upset against 3rd-placed Liverpool this weekend.
