Around 300 people gathered at the Santiago Bernabeu to see the newest addition to the Real Madrid roster, Lucas Silva, this Monday. The 21-year-old Brazilian midfielder will be wearing the number 16 jersey for the next five years for “Los Merengues”.
Rumors had linked the young star with teams such as Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United. In the end, Silva found himself traveling to Madrid to meet his new team last Sunday.
The January transfer signing has won two league titles with Cruzeiro, the club where he developed as a player in his motherland. Three years after making his professional debut, his move to Real Madrid is a "dream come true" for the young player.
“I’m up for the challenge,” Silva said to Spanish newspaper MARCA hours before signing for his new team.
