Galatasaray Spor Kulübü, commonly known as Galatasaray, is a Turkish professional football club based in Istanbul. The team was founded in 1905 and is nicknamed “Cimbom” and “Aslanlar (The Lions)” by sections of its fanbase. Galatasaray plays all its home games at the Ali Sami Yen Stadium (also known as the Rams Park for sponsorship reasons), which seats 52,280 people in its current format.
Galatasaray is regarded as the most successful team in Turkey, and is included in the so-called “Big Three” group of Turkish teams alongside Be?ikta? and Fenerbahçe, who are its biggest rivals. The team is notable due to the fact that it has never been relegated from the top tier since the Turkish Süper Lig’s foundation in 1959. It also made history as the first Turkish team to win a major European title when it won both the UEFA Cup (now known as the UEFA Europa League) and the UEFA Super Cup in 2000.
The club is not owned by a single individual or fans, but rather the team’s members. Membership is gained either via graduating from Galatasaray High School, or alternatively, being granted membership by current members.
Galatasaray’s official streaming channel is Galatasaray TV, a subscription-based service that provides live and on-demand streaming coverage of Galatasaray-related content. This includes match replays, key game highlights, press conferences, behind-the-scenes footage of training sessions, interviews with coaches and players, news, and documentaries.
