New Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas is getting busy on the market. The ex-Porto and Chelsea coach is looking to re-shuffle his squad ahead of the 2012/13 English Premier League campaign.
While speculations tell that midfielder Luka Modric is on his way out of Spurs, Andre Villas-Boas has confirmed his hunt for a forward. According to Goal.com, Spurs are negotiating on a £5M permanent deal for striker Emmanuel Adebayor.

In August 2011, Adebayor penned a season-long loan deal with the London club. With 18 goals and 12 assists in a total of 37 matches for Spurs, the African star finished the 2011/12 season as one of Tottenham Hotspur’s most important players.

“It would be a lie if I tell you we are not looking for a striker,” AVB told reporters on Wednesday.

“And of course Ade is part of that list. We are extremely willing to have Adebayor on board with us.”

“We are onto the market to try and finish the squad. The squad at this moment has some fragilities, particularly on the striker positions.”

Emmanuel Adebayor joined Manchester City on a five-year deal in 2009 for an estimated £25M. In January 2011, the Togolese striker made a surprise move on loan to Real Madrid. He was keen to remain at the Santiago Bernabeu but Jose Mourinho declined the possibility of signing him on a permanent basis.

Meanwhile, the 2012/13 English Premier League season kicks off with a match against Newcastle United for Spurs on August 18, 2012. Emmanuel Adebayor could be on a permanent contract with the London club by then.
