Three years at the Allianz Arena saw three semi-final exits in Europe’s prestigious tournament for the Spanish tactician.

Spanish manager Pep Guardiola waved goodbye to Bayern Munich in style, winning the DFB Pokal in his final game in charge to guide the already crowned Bundesliga champions to a league and cup double.

Despite this being the second time in his three-year spell at the Allianz Arena in which he led the Bavarians to the double, the jury is still out on whether the Spaniard’s reign was successful, as he failed in all three attempts to win the Champions League since taking over in 2013.

Three seasons in Europe’s top-tier club competition saw three semi-final exits, the latest coming at the hands of Atletico Madrid, ruining his last chance of clinching the coveted trophy whilst in Germany before his much-anticipated Man City arrival.

Giving his farewell speech to the legions of fans, Guardiola’s expressed his regret over failing to win the trophy, telling the supporters “I’m sorry about that [not lifting the Champions League]”.

“It was an incredibly wonderful time here. Also on behalf of my family: thank you, Germany!” Watch his last words to Bayern Munich in the video below.
