Beginning Saturday, October 18, Verizon FiOS will offer a free two-week preview of ONE World Sports, offering all FiOS subscribers an opportunity to experience the network known for delivering best-in-class sports events live from around the world.
ONE World Sports will also devote the full broadcast day of Saturday, October 25 to “Super Soctober Saturday,” featuring eight soccer matches over 181Ž2 hours that collectively define the global scope of the network.
“Super Soctober Saturday” features the first leg of the AFC Champions League Final, live from Sydney, Australia; three J. League matches from Japan; an A-League derby matchup from Australia between Melbourne Victory and Melbourne City; and an encore presentation of the thrilling 2014 FA Cup Final between Arsenal and Hull City. In primetime, the network crosses the ocean to showcase the defending NASL champion New York Cosmos as they face their long-standing rival, the Tampa Bay Rowdies, live at 7:30pm ET.
ONE World Sports is further enhancing FiOS’ October promotion with a sweepstakes designed to appeal to soccer fans. One lucky winner of the first ever “ONE World Sports Super Soctober Sweepstakes” will be flown to London, along with a guest, to see the Premier League’s Arsenal Football Club (F.C.) face rival Everton F.C. at Emirates Stadium on February 28, 2015.
During the October 18 to November 3 free preview period, all of Verizon’s more than five million FiOS customers will be able to watch ONE World Sports, which is currently available to approximately three million FiOS subscribers through the FiOS TV Extreme and FiOS TV Ultimate packages.
During the preview, FiOS customers will have a chance to see the start of the Chinese Basketball Association season when the defending champions Beijing Ducks and its star, former New York Knick Stephon Marbury, take on the Guangdong Southern Tigers, featuring recent American high school recruit, Emmanuel Mudiay, who is projected to be one of the top NBA 2015 draft picks. Plus, six live Kontinental Hockey League games and the final leg of the AFC Champions League Finals will be telecast during the preview.
FiOS will promote ONE World Sports in a number of its marketing channels, including cross-channel spots, email communication, web banners and a presence on the Interactive Media Guide that all subscribers see when they turn on their TVs.
