On Saturday night Bayern Munich achieved the landmark of being the first German club to ever record a treble after defeating Stuttgart in the DFB Pokal final match in Berlin.
After disappointments in the last two seasons where the Bavarians had been undermined by Borussia Dortmund in the league and after the heart-break they suffered in the Champions League last season, Bayern responded strongly this season by a cold blooded demolition of anything which came in it’s path of success.

Apart from their supremacy in the league, where they left Borussia Dortmund trailing by 25 points in second place, the Bavarians humbled a Barcelona side which has been without a shadow of doubt the best side of the last five years or so.

A ruthless display saw the Bavarians score four goals against the Catalans at the Allianz Arena and when they entered the Camp Nou in the return leg they ran riot scoring thrice against the Spanish Champions.

The Bavarians have successfully destroyed the demons of the past, after failing to win the European crown in their last two Champions League final appearances, the German champions would not let anything stand in their way this time around and their hunger and persistence earned them a deserving Champions League title.

Pep Guardiola who played an instrumental role in guiding Barcelona to numerous successful ventures in his four year stint at Cataluña, turned the club into a European powerhouse. The Spanish tactician will be aiming to work his magic when he takes over the Bayern Munich hotseat this summer and will be hoping to achieve the same feat with his new club.

Even though the former Barcelona man has all the credentials which suggest that Pep will soon guide the Bavarians towards world domination, it has to be said that this is more easier said than done.
To begin with the departing Jupp Heynckes by winning a historical treble has set the expectations very high which the incoming Guardiola will be required to meet on a consistent basis, this clearly will be a lot of pressure to handle.

One of the toughest tasks at hand for the incoming Pep Guardiola, would be how to handle the tremendous talent already present at the club. The already crowded Bayern midfield will now welcome Dortmund star Mario Gotze to the club and it is unlikely that the German star will be warming benches at the Allianz Arena.

It is important to remember that Bayern already have in their midst one of the most promising stars in the world in the shape of Toni Kroos and it will be interesting to see whether the Bayern youth product will be sacrificed to make way for Mario Gotze.

Bayern’s Champions League final hero Arjen Robben who had been heavily tipped for a summer departure, is now back to his best and is expected to stay at the club. The winger will once again be competing for places with Thomas Muller on the right flank, and the arrival of a new signing will make things more difficult for the Dutch international.

Bayern are reportedly in market for another striker and have been widely linked to Polish international Robert Lewandowski. His arrival would see a trio of world class strikers competing for one position with one another, with the likes of Mario Gomes and Bayern’s top scorer Mario Mandzukic vying for the same spot.

Whereas healthy competition would benefit any side in the world, it would be detrimental if there is a clash of egos. However if Guardiola successfully finds the right balance in the team it is safe to say that his side can do wonders in the years to come.

Guardiola will have a colossal task at hand to improve a side, which is already close to perfect. After a fairy tale season, the Bayern fans will be expecting more of the same in the seasons to come.
However one can simply not doubt Guardiola’s achievements and his yearning for success. In his time as manager of Barcelona he led the Catalans to an incredible 14 titles in a span of four years, and it would not be a surprise if he achieves a similar feat with Bayern.

Bayern Munich is a perfectly structured team and has all the ingredients to develop into a European powerhouse in the coming seasons, and there might not be a better man to guide them towards zenith than Pep Guardiola.
