The Reds will look to close in on league leaders Man City when they take on the struggling Magpies on Thursday night.

Liverpool will be hoping to close the gap at the top of the table when they take on Newcastle United at Anfield on Thursday night. The Reds are now second in the Premier League table, four points behind leaders Man City, and will be looking to close that margin with a win over the Magpies at Anfield tomorrow.

The opportunity to make it eight wins in a row for the Merseysiders is well within reach taking into consideration how well they have performed in the past few weeks. They approach the upcoming encounter on the back of a narrow 1-0 win over Aston Villa, having defeated Arsenal, Southampton, Everton and Wolves in the outings leading up to that clash.

On the contrary, Newcastle will be looking at creating their own luck after picking up a number of bad results this campaign. The Saudi takeover was expected to usher the club into new territories of prosperity and success but that has been far from the case for the Magpies who are now battling relegation. With just 10 points from a possible 48 points.

They will make the trip to Anfield with the hope of getting back to winning ways following their 4-0 humiliation to Leicester City last weekend. Across the last 17 matches, Eddie Howe's men have managed just one win, drawing seven and losing as many as 10 games. With safety being just four points away, they will be poised to make a difference although it will not come easily against one of the league's title contenders.
