Top Premier League headlines, stats, and other facts

West Ham continue to exceed expectations...: With 23 points, David Moyes's side have really outdone themselves so far this term. The Hammers have won four games on the spin, including a victory over Liverpool in a five goal thriller and now have risen to third spot in the table. In fact, only Chelsea and Manchester City currently sit ahead of them, with the Blues having picked up 26 points and City ahead thanks to their superior goal difference. This is arguably West Ham's best start in Premier League history, as the last time they'd achieved this kind of metric was back during the 1975/76 and 1980/81 campaigns, when they picked up 24 points before the Premier League was created.

...and it was also a HUGE win for Moyes: Moyes also had a great day on a personal note, as this marks the first time he's ever beaten Liverpool as a manger. The Scottish tactician had previously faced the Reds on 14 prior occasions while in charge of Everton, Manchester United, and Sunderland as well, and had lost ten times while drawing four.

Shocking result for Liverpool: West Ham have certainly been on a kick this season, that's for sure. But from a Liverpool perspective, it was a frustrating day at the office. Jurgen Klopp's men were coming into their away game against West Ham having record a resounding 2-0 win over Atletico Madrid and more important, were unbeaten in their last 25 matches across all comps. That was the longest such streak in this season's Premier League. However, that all went up in smoke following their 3-2 loss in London, which was their first loss in 11 meetings with West Ham, and has has seen them slide into fourth while West Ham now have moved into third.

A very disappointing debut for Antonio Conte: The Italian manager, who took over at Spurs last week, wasn't able to get the result he and Spurs fans had hoped against Everton. In fact, the match, which finished as as a dull scoreless draw, saw Tottenham fail to register a shot on target in two straight matches for the first time in 18 years. That being said, it will take Conte time to get settled in and for his players to get adjusted to a new manager, and given his impressive work with Juventus, Chelsea, and Inter, there are high hopes he'll be able to turn things around sooner rather than later.

Newcastle's misery continues...: They may be getting a huge cash influx thanks to some wealthy new owners, but so far, things really aren't working out for Newcastle on the pitch. The Magpies are still the only team yet to win a match and sit in 19th spot, five points from safety. In terms of staying afloat, things don't look so good for them at the moment, as each of the last four Premier League sides to have such a start were all relegated at the end of the season.

...but Norwich finally catches a break: Fellow strugglers Norwich, however, had a better weekend, as the Canaries beat Brentford 2-1 to pick up their first win of the season. More important, they scored twice during that encounter, which is the first time in nearly two years (the last time was against Spurs in December 2017).

Manchester United's leaky defense continues to be an issue: The Manchester Derby was probably the most looked forward game this round, and it didn't disappoint - unless if one is a Manchester United fan. Manchester is now blue after City recorded a 2-0 away win, making the Cityzens the first team to win eight away Premier League games at Old Trafford in league history. Meanwhile, the Red Devils have now conceded at least one goal in their last 14 matches across all comps - something that hasn't happened since the late 1950's, when they shipped at least one goal in 21 consecutive home games in all comps.

Top Premier League matches: November 20 - November 21, 2021

The Premier League is unfortunately set to be interrupted yet again due to another installment of international fixtures, but fans won't have to wait too long to see their favorite players and teams back in action. Here are some of the games you won't want to miss once the Premier League gets back underway starting on Saturday, November 20th:

Leicester City vs Chelsea: After a frustrating one-all draw with Burnley, league leaders Chelsea will be looking to get back to winning ways when they travel to face Leicester, who've had a bumpy season so far and are winless in their last two games.

Watford vs Manchester United: Following their loss to Manchester City in the Manchester Derby, all eyes will be on how Manchester United responds when they go to visit a Watford side who are dangerously close to the drop zone. With Watford having suffered four losses from their last five, this game should present a golden opportunity for the Red Devils, but the Hornets just may have enough sting in their tails to cause trouble for the English giants.

Liverpool vs Arsenal: Liverpool won't have time to reel too much after their unbeaten run was snapped by West Ham, as they'll be welcoming an Arsenal side who appear to be finally getting their act together after an embarrassing start. The Gunners will arrive at Anfield having won three on the trot, which has helped them rise into fifth place and indeed could overtake Liverpool into fourth should they win this game.

Manchester City vs Everton: Now in second place following their 2-0 road win over Manchester United, Pep Guardiola's men will look to apply some serious pressure on Chelsea when they take on an Everton side who've picked up just two points from their last quintet of games. Indeed, the Toffees haven't won a match since September 25th, when they beat Norwich 2-0.

Tottenham vs Leeds United: New boss Conte will get another crack at a win with his new club when Spurs host Leeds United. Leeds aren't in the drop zone just yet, but they're not too far off it; however, they're presently unbeaten in their last three games. It will be very interesting to see how both teams react after club football is interrupted once again for the international hiatus.
