Real Madrid have successfully signed striker Emmanuel Adebayor on loan from Manchester City. The transfer’s announcement was recently publicized on Real’s official website.
The statement read: “Real Madrid CF and Manchester City FC have reached a deal that will see Emmanuel Adebayor play on loan for the Spanish club. The player will remain at Real Madrid until the end of the current season, at which point the (Madrid) Club hold an unilateral option to purchase the player.”

This means that the Togolese attacker will be playing alongside the likes of superstars Cristiano Ronaldo, Ricardo Kaka, Xabi Alonso and a host of others under Los Blancos’ jersey till the end of the 2010/11 – while having equal chances of returning to England next season, or remaining at the Santiago Bernabeu. The decision from Real’s board to sign Adebayor as a fully-acquired player might depend on the forward’s performance in the remainder of this season.

Adebayor was quick to get on the scoring for Arsenal after he was purchased in the January 2006 transfer window. A similar achievement in Real Madrid could certainly convince Coach Jose Mourinho to reserve him a stable place at the club.
