Given the intense rivalry between Chelsea and Arsenal, it's not surprising that the game, which was eagerly anticipated by legions of Premier League fans, would be a spicy encounter.
Chelsea thrashed Arsenal 6-0 last season in a game that Gunners fans wish to forget in a hurry, and one that had Blues fans celebrating as if they had won a league title.
Moreover was former Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas taking on his former side, which had caused controversy due to his tenure with Arsene Wenger's men.
The first half had its share of interesting incidents, which saw the normally reserved Arsene Wenger mixing it up with Jose Mourinho on the touchline.
And then in the second, Fabregas starred...for both good and bad reasons. The good, at least for Chelsea fans, was settng up Diego Costa for the team's second to seal all three points.
And the bad? The Spanish international appeared to handle the ball with his hand in the box, infuriating Arsenal supporters who felt that a penalty should have been given.
As usual, they all flooded the ever-present social media to vent their frustrations, with Chelsea fans also expressing their opinions as well:
Not the performance for Arsenal today. But still think we were denied a penalty. Was Defo handball by Fabregas. Could of changed game #AFC

And on a side note, Fàbregas was outside the box when the ball touched his hands. Never a penalty.

That non-penalty call on Fabregas for the hand ball was a massive call, and the wrong one imo.

Game changes with Cahill sending off. Penalty given for Fabregas handball. Little things... @FA

Moving on from endless Twitter rants, what do you think of this photo of the incident? Penalty or not?
