Next Wednesday, AS Roma will present their new jersey for the upcoming season 2014/15. However, as it so often happens, pictures of the actual shirt have already been leaked. 

Interestingly, Nike chose a very simple and classy tone for the Giallorossi with a polo-looking kit that has captured the attention of football fans all around the world. This will be the first jersey designed by Nike, which reached an agreement to become the Romans’ sponsor last year.

The deal was part of Roma’s project to build a franchise that is amongst the top-clubs in Europe and the world. The Giallorossi have submitted a construction plan to obtain permission to build the “Stadio della Roma”, Roma’s own stadium. In fact, so far the capital’s team has been sharing the Stadio Olimpico with city-rivals, SS Lazio.

The new Colosseum-inspired stadium should be completed in 2016/17 and will cost approximately €300M. Moreover, the Roman team has recently increased its capital by €100M and seeks to sell the shares of AS Roma that are owned by a bank, to Chinese investor Chen Feng. The team’s president, James Pallotta, recently said:

“[Roma is] the most undervalued sports team in the world.”

“Roma has the opportunity to be one of the top three or five sports brands in the world. There is no question that is our goal.”
