FC Bayern travel to Hannover, looking to continue their winning streak in the Bundesliga. Bayern's main focus however will be on an injury free ride against the struggling 96ers due to UEFA Champions League action in midweek. As things stand against Shakhtar currently, Bayern is exactly one away goal away from being knocked out of the competition (provided they do not score more than one themselves in the Allianz Arena). They are coming into this match off the back of a victory in the DFB Pokal against Eintracht Braunschweig.
Unfortunately for Bayern, 2-0 against a second division side was not really a good enough score line. Pep Guardiola played Xabi Alonso and Bastian Schweinsteiger together in defensive midfield again; however, the team failed to create enough chances with this duo in midfield. A wonderful free kick from David Alaba and a magical goal from Mario Götze (he dribbled past three players before striking) helped them win the derby.
Hannover, in the past six matches, have drawn three matches and lost three matches. They are coming into this match without confidence and without a key figure in Lars Stindl. Stindl is suspended; Hiroshi Kiyotake will perhaps continue to fill in for him. Andre Hoffmann is injured. Markus Miller is on the path to gaining fitness. Thiago Alcantara, Philipp Lahm and Javi Martinez are all in rehab, trying to gain fitness.
