The Citizens come into this match at the back of an eleven match unbeaten run and will be hoping to stretch their streak when they face Sunderland on Thursday. Prior to their last match Pellegrini's men had recorded nine straight victories but will be disappointed having dropped two points against Burnley last time out.
Man City were given a two goal cushion thanks to goals from David Silva and a wonder strike from Brazilian midfielder Fernandinho . However the hosts failed to hold on to the lead with Boyd and Barnes scoring in the second half to level the scores as the match ended in a 2-2 draw.
Spanish international David Silva claimed that no fixture in the Premier League is easy and that smaller sides in the league should not be taken lightly.
"Some people have looked at our fixtures over the past few weeks and said that we should win them all, but football doesn’t work like that,” said the Spanish star.
"It’s a cliché, sure, but as Burnley proved, every game is difficult in the Premier League and it is a very long season."
The Citizens will now face a Sunderland side which has managed just a single victory in their last nine matches but Silva is expecting a tricky challenge.
"Any team can beat you if you’re not at your best and I believe playing sides that are struggling to find form and are near the bottom of the league is worse than a run against teams near the top because they play every game as though it’s their last one of the season.
"We just need to return to winning ways quickly and not dwell on the Burnley result too much."
Sergio Aguero scored twice when the two sides met earlier in the season however the Argentinean will not be able to play part during the match tomorrow as he nurses a knee injury. Captain Vincent Kompany (hamstring ) will also remain on the sidelines and will be joined by striker Edin Dzeko (calf) and center back Matija Nastasic (muscular injury). Fernando will serve his one match suspension having picked up five yellow cards.
Sunderland on the other hand will have to do without full backs Anthony Reveillere (calf) and Patrick van Aanholt (shoulder). Midfielder Liam Bridcutt suffered a concussion during the 0-0 draw against Aston Villa and is likely to remain on the sidelines, however Sebastian Larsson is expected to recover in time to feature on Thursday.
